Local pressure washing business

A WordPress to Next.js move for a local business, every address kept

In October 2024, Brown's Family Pressure Washing had no website: its address showed a placeholder page. We built its first site that autumn, then moved it to Next.js in August 2026.

A first website, then a move to Next.js
When
Since late 2024

What we found

No website yet

On 7 October 2024, the business's web address showed a placeholder page and nothing else. There was no site to measure, so every search figure on this page comes from sites we built.

What we did

The work, in three steps

  1. We looked at where they show up

We checked who mentions and links to it. Before the move, we recorded its searches and positions on Google and its Business Profile.

  2. We built the new site

We used that to move the site to Next.js on 30 August 2026, with every one of the old site's addresses kept.

  3. We monitor it and keep improving

We check its Search Console every month. After launch, our speed tests found the slow phone load, and it is now much faster.

Problems and fixes

What went wrong, what we did, what's next

  • Position slipped before the move

    Found
Average position improved into mid-2026, then slipped back: 9.7 in June, 21.2 in July and 27.4 in August.
    Done
The slip came before the move. We moved the site to Next.js on 30 August 2026, with every address kept.
    Next
Next, we track the new site's position month by month; with 31 days of data so far, it is too soon to judge.
  • Slow on phones at launch

    Found
Lab test of three pages on a phone, 27 September 2026: main content showed in 8.5 to 11.0 seconds.
    Done
After the fix, 4 October 2026: 3.3 seconds or faster on every page, still over Google's 2.5-second line.
    Next
Next, we shrink the media those pages load, aiming to get them under it.
  • A redirect loop after the move

    Found
A redirect loop ran on the live site for about two hours after the move.
    Done
We caught it, fixed it and added a guard against it.
  • Most clicks carry no search

    Found
Google does not name the search behind most clicks: 103 of the old site's 122.
    Done
We base every keyword figure here on the searches Google does name, and say how small that sample is.
    Next
Next, we report the new site's named searches as its data grows.

Page speed is a lab reading: Lighthouse, on a phone, the median of three runs.

What changed

What the data shows

Since 21 October 2025, not a before and after: the new site has 31 days of data against the old site's 313, too few to compare the two as totals.

3.5

Average position for "pressure washing near me", from 82 impressions

The business's migration records

Small numbers, stated plainly: a local service business gets few clicks from search, and only two searches that do not name the business had at least three clicks over the whole period.

A lower position is better: the top result is position one.

Monthly clicks ranged from 2 in December 2025 to 21 in April 2026. October 2025 has 11 days of data.

Clicks from Google search, month by month, from 21 October 2025 to 29 September 2026. Search Console.

These are this business's figures over these dates, not a promise for yours.
